In a complete change of role, I will soon be performing as Rona - a foul-mouthed, very angry mum - in Stage Five's production of 'The Revlon Girl', by Neil Anthony Docking.
Based on a real event - when the bereaved mothers of Aberfan invited a young woman to give them a make up and beauty demonstation - the script is astonishing. It sweeps from aching loss to hilarious Valleys girl humour, and back again.
2026 marks the 60th anniversary of the Aberfan disaster. My character, Rona, believes that 'in forty or fifty years, no one will remember what happened here'. The six-woman team and superb director of this wonderful production would like to prove her wrong. With respect and heartfelt empathy for the real mums who lived through such incompehensible tragedy, we present 'The Revlon Girl'.
